Bar and Bat Mitzvah Training

Friends and family who come to Tulsa for bar and bat mitzvahs are sometimes overwhelmed by the spirit of these celebrations. They invariably comment about the warmth of the congregation, its evident love for children, the generosity of the experience.

All of this begins with a commitment to the whole child.  Students in our program get a year of individualized attention from a staff of talented synagogue skills tutors. Each youngster proceeds at his or her own pace, with plenty of encouragment and supervision. Children practice their growing skill sets as volunteer cantors every Shabbat morning. Each bar and bat mitzvah is significantly different, shaped by the strengths and temperament of each child and family. We like to think that we succeed in treating individuals individually.

Our goal is to instill a sense of Jewish identification and to enable full and continuing participation in the Synagogue. Our celebrations are full, authentic, and give our kids a sense of real achievement. Without exception, they come away feeling truly connected to the Jewish community and its twin standards of life-long study and social service.
