Children and our Worship Services
Teaching our children how to be full participants in our worship service is one of the important functions of our Religious School. Under the supervision of our Department of Education, our youngsters meet on scheduled Saturday morning from September through May in an informal Junior Congregation program.
This program focusses on the Shabbat Morning Service and features a discussion of the Torah portion for the week. It's also a chance for our kids to socialize with other Jewish children. This group meets from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., as well as at special services on Rosh Ha-Shannah and Yom Kippur.
Older kids who are candidates for bar and bat mitzvah are almost always involved in conducting the main service for the full year prior to their celebrations. Members of our congregation take great joy in this part of the Shabbat morning experience.
