We like to think that we are making progress in ways that go beyond program and services. It's the matter of attitude, atmosphere and tone. Do we communicate a message of judgmental impatience, or do we greet newcomers with warmth and respect?
We think you'll find that the latter prevails. B'nai Emunah understands that a new Jewish world has already arrived. The old tensions and ideologies that used to divide us seem archaic and artificial--an impediment to richer Jewish lives. We belong to the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism, but we are open to the affiliation of people who have little interest in denominational claims.
As part of a larger commitment to pluralism and acceptance, we have decided to welcome everyone who wants a share in the kind of Judaism the Synagogue represents. That means people who arrive as knowledgeable Jews, and people who arrive without any Jewish experience at all. We're ready to start wherever you are; all we ask is that you give yourself an opportunity to grow.
